In attendance: Kirsten Wallace, Sue Lowry, Drew Dehoff, Jennifer Hoggatt, Amy Shallcross, Julie Cunningham, Matt Unruh, Mabel Jones, and Brian Atkins
Call to Order:
Kirsten Wallace, ICWP Board Chair, called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. Central time. The Board summary from the August 5, 2021 call was approved. Vice Chair Drew Dehoff made the motion to approve the summary and Julie Cunningham seconded the motion. The meeting summary was approved by unanimous voice vote.
Brian Atkins reviewed the Treasurer’s and reported total assets were $167,798.46 after expenses as of August 31, 2021. So far for the new 2022 fiscal year which began July 1st, $61,245 in dues for the new fiscal year have been received.
The Board considered a proposal by Blue Water Outlook (BWO). BWO provides integrated weather, water, and climate content and information to assist with situational awareness and decision support for its subscribers. BWO offered a proposal for ICWP to subscribe as a benefit for ICWP members. The Board suggested that BWO be invited to present at a future Water Data & Science committee to highlight the products they provide. The Water Data & Science committee could also consider compiling a directory of similar commercial or free services providing weather and climate forecasts across the country.
Executive Director’s Report:
The Executive Director’s Report dated August 31, 2021 is attached and was distributed the full Board.
Sue Lowry, ICWP Executive Director, plans to attend the Western States Water Council’s (WSWC) Fall 2021 Meeting in Deadwood, South Dakota on September 14-16, 2021. In addition, Sue mentioned that she plans to register and attend the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) 2021 Annual Water Resources Conference, November 8-10, 2021, in Kissimmee, Florida.
Due to time devoted to other issues during the Board call, there was very little time left for ICWP Committee reports. Sue sent draft versions of the “ICWP Principle Statement on Extreme Precipitation Estimation” and the “ICWP Principle Statement on Facilitating Disaster Preparedness and Resiliency in Water Planning” to the Board members and reported that those statements had been voted on and approved by the Water Data and Science and Water Planning Committees, respectively. Sue asked the Board members to review the Principle Statements and submit comments to her by September 8, 2021.
The Nominating Committee, led by 1st Vice Chair Drew Dehoff, has been developing a slate of candidates to serve as members of the Board of Directors with terms ending in 2024 as well as candidates to serve as officers in 2022. The candidates will be voted on during the ICWP Annual Meeting in October.
