ICWP & Western State Water Council’s

2026 Roundtable

April 22-23rd, 2026

Reservoir Center for Water Solutions

301 Water St. SE, Washington, DC 20003

We had the privilege to conduct meaningful exchanges with the federal agency Water Policy CommitteeCongressional staff from key authorizing committees and federal science and data leadership.

The biggest takeaway: our federal partners are listening and there are ongoing opportunities for ICWP to engage.

HIGHLIGHTS:

April 22nd: Joint Roundtable

We started things off by a robust discussion with Water Policy Committee panelists representing key federal agencies. They discussed interagency collaboration as designated under the FLOODS Act (15 U.S.C. § 9708) and Executive Order 13956 Modernizing America’s Water Resource Management and Water Infrastructure.

Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) stopped by to provide her perspective on important water data, science and management priorities for Congress.

We also welcomed Committee staff to hear about the important water policy issues their respective committees are tackling.

Our third and final panel focused on hearing from key federal agencies about challenges and opportunities to improve the communication of water information.

April 23rd: ICWP Members Meeting & Hill Visits

The following day on April 23rd, ICWP held our members meeting to discuss shared water policy priorities for the coming year and to learn about the research project progress from our ICWP Spring 2026 interns.

We closed the Roundtable with afternoon visits on the Hill, gaining important face time with Congressional staff from:

  1. Senate Appropriations — Interior Subcommittee
  2. House Natural Resources Committee
  3. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology

Many thanks to the 25+ ICWP members who attended this year’s Roundtable.
