Interstate Water Management Committee Meeting Summary March 21, 2019 Conference Call

  1. Call to Order—Chair Drew Dehoff, SRBC began the meeting at 8:03 MDT
  • Introductions of Participants on the call:  Drew Dehoff, Chair, SRBC; Sue Lowry, Executive Director, ICWP; Theresa Christian, ICWP intern; Rhonda Manning, PADEP.
  • Work Plan Items for Committee to Address:
    • Purpose Statement to Guide the Review and Update the 2006 Interstates Report written by ICWP—any further thoughts after our last call?

On the calls the committee has had so far, discussion has focused on the need to update the portions of the report that list interstate organizations and make sure we have captured any new organizations or any that have dissolved.  Emily (intern) is working on this. Primer will be a new short document that will likely get more use and utility than the full updated report. 

  • Interstate focus for Panels at the Washington Roundtable
    • Facilitated discussion on Report Update during Roundtable (Tuesday)
      • Go through questions
      • Have committee members prepared to keep discussion going if needed

Drew will start the facilitated discussion with an overview of the 2006 Report and then have questions prepared:

            Purpose Document has start of an outline for update

            Case studies

            Ask how the audience would use such a report

            Ask what types of questions about interstate organizations that should be addressed in the updated report

            What gaps need to be filled?

            Describe the various funding and financing models that exist

            Drew had a list of items that he felt weren’t always thought of as an “interstate” topic, but certainly impact interstate activities, such as climate change, WRDA bills, CWA permitting

  • ICWP Internship Program
    • Update on Emily’s progress on work assignments for updating the report and developing the Primer

Emily will be asked to give a short update at the Roundtable on her work so far.  

Drew has developed a basic timetable and assignments for updating certain sections will be made on our next call after having the benefit of the Roundtable input.
